Flagpole One – a Fence One LLC Company
Over the past 20 years Fence One llc has grown from a start-up company to be one of the largest residential and commercial fence companies in New England. Owned and operated by a father and son team…Al and Patrick Kupchunos. The business has recently relocated to 287 Strong Rd, South Windsor, CT into a new state of the art building they have purchased. With a full fabrication shop that includes CNC machines and a welding shop their business continues to grow and also sells a full spectrum of fence styles to contractors and property owners.
With a strong work force and management team in place many thought it was probably time for ‘Dad’ to retire!
“It would be impossible to find a better individual to run a small business than my son Patrick. He has incredible energy, knowledge of every facet of the industry and an ability to work with customers and suppliers to ensure our employees install the fence they envisioned” according to Al Kupchunos the father and partner.
With all this in place, most at his age would head out to the golf course or in Al’s case also the ski slopes as he is still and avid lifelong skier. But for those who know him that is simply not going to happen.
“As a lifelong entrepreneur I have an inner drive to do something new and productive. Something that entails meeting people and can capitalize on my years in the fence industry. Plus I still want to be close to the Fence One llc business. After not too much thought and because we had customers and friends always asking us if we did Flagpoles the new business venture was pretty obvious…start a Flagpole company!”
So this is really not a start-up but rather a little jog in the business road. Pretty simple when you consider this:
- For 20 years we have dug holes, mixed concrete, made sure posts were level and cleaned up job sites.
- Many businesses hire subcontractors not us…we have our own longtime employees in place.
- We have our own equipment in place.
- We have a great facility and display area.
- Finally coming from a family that grew tobacco and potatoes for generations in the Connecticut Valley we have a love for this our homeland. For us installing a Flagpole that will display the American Flag is a little like planting a seed of freedom or a special memory.
